An innovative program

Powered by Canada Research Chair

This program compares the costs of implementing the best clinical practices (BCPs) in nosocomial infection prevention and control (IPC) with the costs of managing them to assess their effectiveness and efficiency. Results will be used to persuade decision-makers to invest in IPC.

  • Strategies include: developing innovative approaches to facilitating the transfer and use of knowledge associated with the value of investing in IPC, reinforcing the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, providing online training, and asserting Canada's leadership in the field of economic analysis of IPC.

  • The research chair will demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of IPC in hospitals and long-term care facilities by conducting high-quality empirical studies to show that the benefits of investing in IPC outweigh the costs.

  • The research chair will contribute to the prevention of outbreaks and the consequences of future pandemics by developing innovative strategies to facilitate the transfer and use of knowledge associated with the value of investing in IPC by decision-makers. It will also contribute to the prevention by conducting high-quality empirical studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of IPC in hospitals and long-term care facilities.
